The Teens Interior Design Course focuses on the fundamentals of designing for residential interiors & introduces students into the exciting world of Interior Design. Throughout the lessons students will develop their skills, enthusiasm and flair for Interior design producing scaled hand drawings and a presentation.

    Topic 1

    • What is an interior designer

    • Introduction to colour 

    • Phases of design

    • Floor plans  

    • Introduction to Scales 1:50 and 1:20

    • Introduction to Design Styles

    • Activity: Living Room Plan 1:50 and Mood Board


    Topic 2

    • Interior design consultation & project brief

    • Principles of interior design

    • Furniture layout comparisons & living room configurations

    • Ergonomics

    • Activity: Living room furniture layout plan and mood board


    Topic 3
    • Bedroom standard dimensions

    • Bedroom ergonomics

    • Furniture layout comparisons

    • Activity: Bedroom furniture layout plan and mood board


    Topic 4

    • Making a sample board

    • How to make a cushion

    • Making curtains

    • Activity: composing Sample Board

    • Group Presentation

    • October 9th – November 13th (5 Saturdays) except October 16 half term break – In Studio 10:00AM-1:00PM

  • Materials

    Scale ruler, tracing paper, graph paper, double sided tape, metal ruler, Stanley knife, scissors, glue, A4 white paper, A2 foam board

  • Internship & Work

    The Designers’ Studio runs an active Internship Programme whereby we collaborate with several interior design companies and showrooms such as Pottery Barn, Ethan Allen, Crate and Barrel to name a few. The end goal of our training is to secure work in the industry for our graduates and we actively facilitate this. Work shadowing is organised for top students during holiday breaks. Great care is taken to match the student’s aspirations and abilities with a suitable practice.
